Lloyd J. Guillory is a retired architect, born in Berwick, Louisiana in 1925. The family migrated to Morgan City (across the river) in 1935 and he spent his formative years there until World War II interrupted his life. Like most young men of his generation, he served in the military. He saw combat in the South Pacific as a P-51 fighter pilot in the Fifth Air Force. After three and a half years in the military, he returned to civilian life and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering and had an office in Morgan City for the next 35 years during which he designed many of the area's public buildings including the St. Mary Parish Court House, Lakewood Hospital, Morgan City Municipal Auditorium, Morgan City Petroleum Club, five local high schools, and twelve elementary schools.

He retired from active architectural practice in 1987 and moved to Columbia, Missouri where he and his wife lived for the next 13 years. They returned to Louisiana in 2000 and now reside in Lafayette. He and his wife will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014 and have four children and ten grandchildren.

He spends his retirement years creating works of art. He has written five novels and is contemplating a sixth. He has carved close to 100 wood carvings, mostly equestrian in nature, builds models of just about anything, and produces many drawings. He has in progress a series of famous Louisiana plantation houses, some of which can be found on this site.
